Joe Dan Boyd at the Tinney Chapel Mailbox

THIS PHOTO OF JOE DAN BOYD was made by Joan LaBarr, Communications Director, North Texas Conference, United Methodist Church.

THAT'S OUR MAILBOX AT TINNEY CHAPEL UMC, the quintessential country church, located at 449 County Road 4620, Winnsboro, Texas 75494. A former pastor, Charley Pierce, liked to say that Tinney Chapel is located "in the middle of a cow pasture," and you can probably see that Charley was correct. In the photo, Joe Dan, Tinney Chapel's Communications Coordinator, checks the mail, and prepares for coverage of events this weekend, which will be reported in Sunday's post. Meanwhile, our new Family Life & Christian Education Center nears completion, and the time also draws near for our Rural Life Sunday Celebration on September 26, headed by Jenna Nelson.

“I have a couple of requests for Rural Life Sunday," reports Jenna. "I’ve been planning games for the kids and I need empty coffee cans (small size) for the washer toss (so we don’t have to worry about broken glass) and a bag of washers if anyone has any.

"For the hay scramble game, rather than search for coins as in the past, the kids (of all ages) will search for thread spools (it's a take off on 'needle in the haystack') and turn the spools in as 'tokens' for prizes. So I need empty thread spools-—the old wooden ones would be neat--but any kind is fine, especially the smaller size. If you have any of these things to donate, please start bringing them to church, beginning Sunday, Sept.5. I’ll also welcome donations for prizes. Thanks from Jenna"
